The Office of Community Living was created as a merger of two separate Divisions. After 4 years of working side by side, Office leadership sought to more fully integrate operations to ensure efficiencies, reduce duplications, and most importantly to produce better outcomes for the organizations and people they serve. Nonprofit Impact was hired to create an integration plan. Implementation of the plan, based on interviews with 100+ staff people and the work of a project team, has resulted in more effective collaboration, deeper appreciation and understanding of roles across the office, and more streamlined services, according to staff.  In addition, Nonprofit Impact was hired to help staff build an outcome-based approach to technical assistance, based on in-depth interviews with the agency’s partners.  The final product helped staff revamp their services to be much more coordinated internally and more useful externally.

Inland Northwest Land Conservancy is a 26-year-old land trust working across a 10-county region in Eastern WA and Western ID. Conservation Impact completed an organizational needs assessment, developed a strategic action plan, and worked with staff to ensure implementation. Conservation Impact staff supported staff and the board while the organization was in between directors, and helped to hire the right person for the job. Having a strategic plan, improved processes, and clarified roles in place, INLC had their “house in order” so new leadership “could hit the ground running.”

The Colorado State Forest Service was founded over 100 years ago. Over the past few years the organization has had a substantial change to its mission and role in protecting the State’s forests. The organizational “model”-its focus, programs, staffing, structure, and resource allocation-  needed to catch up to that change. With over 100 employees and 17 field offices, they needed a consultant to help them address challenging issues and chart the path for reinvention. Conservation Impact completed an organizational analysis and then worked with the leadership team to create a business plan, with a detailed implementation schedule. The leadership team has steadfastly implemented the plan- they have reorganized, created more cross-functional teams, redefined how the agency generates and allocates funds, defined their target markets, and created a new management team with clear roles and responsibilities.
